Horseback Riding Styles/Disciplines

English

This is a form of riding that has a small lightweight, relatively flat saddle.  This allows the horse to move freely and rhythmically.  The horse is directed by both hands working independently of one another.

Styles of English riding include:  Dressage, Hunt Seat, Working Hunter, Fox Hunting, Eventing, and Show Jumping.

Western

This is a type of riding in that the rider controls the horse by holding reins in one hand and using leg and seat to direct the horse.  The saddle is large and usually has a horn.

Styles of Western riding include: Western Pleasure, Western Games, Rodeo Competitions, and Endurance Riding.

Vaulting

This type of riding is similar to gymnastics on the horse.  This discipline increases balance, gross and fine motor skills, socialization, and the ability to ride in rhythm with the horse.  This discipline is usually encouraged for all students at Raise Your Dreams Farm, for it is beneficial for all riders.

*All of these styles of riding are available at Raise Your Dreams Farm.  Call for more information at 856-769-3722.
